It's hard really to put into words what Michael's performing ability, his charisma, his personality, his emotion, did for me as a person and as a performer. I've always thought of myself, singing and performance-wise, as a cross between Michael and Bono. Or perhaps that's what I've always wanted to be.
I remember that I was actually just getting into INXS during the summer of 97, and I remember how broken and lost I felt after Michael's death. I told a high school friend of mine about it, and her reply was “So? It's not like he was Kurt Cobain or anything.” I can remember how shocked I was to hear such a thing, that someone would respond with such ill disregard for the honor of someone so special who had passed.
I just want to say thank you to Michael. Thank you for being a great inspiration on me, for challenging me to step up to the plate and take the swing no matter how fast the ball that comes at me. I'm sorry I never got to appreciate you while you were here, but I hope I make up for it in performance and in spirit.
Maybe someday we'll meet. And I can say thank you personally.

I always think of Michael when I listen to the U2 song “one”. I love the music and I loved his voice and spirit. So did my brother who followed Michael only one month later... from Adelaide/S.A. straight up into the sky.. I think of both of you.. always
A frontman who's energy and passion raised everyone in the place into thinking he was alongside you and performing just to you and made thousands become one. A man who could be rated amongst the very best, who's songs still sound as good as they were when they were first released, yet a man who was a spiritual quiet person in life.

Still there is music, still there are songs and artists that I like, but I miss Michael. He's the only person who I do not know personally and for whom I cryed.
I had the pleasure of meeting Michael in Glasgow during the “Kick” tour, it was mid December and he still looked cool. I have seen a number of polls asking who the best front man was, to me there is and only will be one man and that is Hutch.

Occasionally, I think about how tragic it was that a man with so much charisma and life ended his own. The music world was truly blessed to have experienced this man.
