I will never forget what happened when Michael Hutchence passed away: I was finishing my last semester at the College of William & Mary during the timeframe of his death, and during a break in studying, I turned on my TV inside my dorm room -- to MTV, in fact. And suddenly I saw footage of the old 1988 “Rockumentary” that was done on INXS at the height of “Kick”. I wondered, at first, why is this being shown again? (considering how many years since I last watched it). Then during the commercial break, Kurt Loder of MTV News came on and mentioned that Michael had committed suicide on that fateful Saturday, 11/22/97...I couldn't believe it. I remembered my first inkling with INXS & Michael Hutchence was when “What You Need” first came on the airwaves in 1986 (and of course, the hits from “Kick” a year or so later)...but I was indeed stunned by the news. It's truly sad to have lost such a talented performer/lyricist/singer so soon...yet life must go on, because I'm sure that's how Michael would have wanted it for all of us. God bless you, Mikey, your fans (as well as your rock music peers) will always remember you as that “shining star.”

The music of INXS rocks on forever...God bless them always.

I remember 1987 when a friend, Maria Elena gave me a tape “KICK”. It was wonderful. since that time I liked so much, I have no words to explain what I felt when I entered he died. I realy sorry. He was-and will be-my mirror.
Love his music and his look.

This day is a sad day, I never forget Nov. 22 or Jan. 22, you are always a part of who I am. My fist born will be 3 Jan 19, he sleeps with his guitar, he loves music, he says “momma I want to play guitar and sing when I get big.” I will encourage it and let him know your story. Peace Micheal, I pray you are playing music on the streets of gold with the creator of all music.

For some selfish reason, the night sky reclaimed one of its most brilliant stars on this date, not so very long ago. Because of it, or perhaps despite it, that mantle glitters more brightly while we stand beneath the same flickering glow.

Although your voice is now the quiet sigh of the rushing waters and the whisper of the night breeze, your light continues to illuminate our imaginations and inspire us to our dreams.

Forever here, in memory and legend, you are dearly missed and cherished, Michael.

Can't believe another year has passed since you've been gone.

Simply the best frontman ever to have graced this world. So much class! Nothing will ever come close to how good you were a one-off.

You just feel if Mike were here now how much better the world would be.

Always in my thoughts.

RIP Michael

I very sad for this day. The death of Michael change my life on 180 degrees, I remember the first time i heard a song of inxs, the voice of Michael enchanted me, and I lived a total devotion for him. I cryed too much the day of his death, but, the time past, and I have life to live, now, I see the things very different. I remember Michael for the wonderful songs to wrote. Wherever You Are, receive all my love, I remember you forever and you live in my head and my heart forever. With love. Diana

it's been 7 years ago.....i still miss you Michael, i wear a ring with initials...M.H. with your born date and date of death... i wish this was never like it is, you are more for me than just the musician, singer and all of that, you are one of the singers with charisma, i still miss you as a musical friend, i was talking a year ago with the guys of your band INXS, over here in Belgium at the Night of the Proms, it was great, also if we were backstage to talk to the members also to Jon Stevens, but i guess it would be different if you were here wit us.....
I still hope your daughter will be the great girl you wanted here to be....it is still a shock for me to hear that you girlfriend....is also with you....
Still miss you, i know you are somewhere sometime, listening and watching over us...
Love,
Bart
