In the spring of 95', I think it was; I met Mike and his girlfriend at the time for the first and last time.
I was working in a boutique/specialty shop in the Westport district of Kansas City Missouri. INXS was on tour and slated to play that evening at the Starlight Theatre.
Mike walked in to the shop with his lady, and proceeded to quietly look around and check things out. I was in back working, and the front shop keeper person was out to lunch.
I knew exactly who he was, but I didn't want to get all 'fanboy' up in his face, because I'm a musician and I know when someone is enjoying quiet time. So I kept a respectful eye on him just in case he had a question or needed some help, and eventually he did that sort of “Is anybody home in here” rubberneck-thing, so I came out front and played it cool.
I said hello, he said hello, and we both knew the deal without having to go into the usual blah-blah-blah.
As my employers shop was a “Bakery For Dogs”( were NOT going there right now ), the owners Great Dane was hanging about and ruling the roost as she always did.
Mike asked what kind of dog she was, and I told him. He said “My girlfriend's Danish too”. So I had to jump right in and pacify the situation before Danish girlfriend got mad.
That's when I had to bring out fanboy and put everything in perspective again. But don't you think for one moment that I didn't do it cool.
I simply asked “How's the tour going”? And Mike jumped right in and got back into his groove. Everybody parted with smiles, and it really left a great impresion on me:
Mike was by far and away the coolest Rock Star and down to earth Human in that realm that I've EVER met, even to this day.
Rest in Bliss Brother; I think of You often.

Whenever I hear his songs and his suggestive voice I can not stop thinking what a waste life . . .
I'm shure he was a very special person and obviously a very sexy man.

Dear Michael~
Happy Belated birthday. I've returned to college after more than a decade away. I find myself thinking of you and listening to your music as inspiration when I feel I can't meet all the demands of being a wife and mother and student. I wish you were still here but you haven't really left, have you? We are still connected through the music as we were when I was a teen.

My brother used to go to school along Old Peak Road. My mom and I used to pick him up from school on some days and on others visit with friends that lived in the Mid Levels ( Bowen Road ). We, my brother and I knew of Michael and my brother especially loved his music. We are in our 40s now, and as one does reflect on 'the good days', at this age and older, I found myself thinking of the times we had back in HongKong ( 30 yrs ). Anyway, just wanted to wish you all the best, and pay respects to Michael, although we never really came face to face often enough. Happy Birthday Michael.
As “Never tear us apart” says:...I was standing, you were there, two worlds collided, and they could never tear us apart...that's the same way that you put this in to me and you conquered my heart.
xoxo.

I was a young and impressional girl who was deeply moved by the sound of INXS. I would play their music and escape to a world of rock and roll. I'm a normal everyday kind of gal, but INXS allowed me to pretend to be someone else. I'm all grown up now and I still put on the headphones and blare out all the moving, touching and romantic sounds of this band. I'm sorry I never got to meet Michael but I look forward to dancing with him in another life...where we are all rock stars!
Still missing all that you were and all that you are
Micheal You were the essence of rock&roll in the 80s and 90s, You will me missed.. Peace to Tiger Lily and your familly..RIP Micheal and Kelland....USA
You gave a special sense to this world!
I have been a fan since I saw INXS on a satellite link for Live Aid (1985-Wembley) on the tv. Nearly 23 yrs later and I am still a fan. 'New Sensation' is the ringtone on my phone - so they are never far away from my thoughts.
That's all I needed to say.
That's all I needed to say.
I BELIEVE THAT I WAS THE LAST PERSON TO SHAKE MICHAEL'S HAND WHILE HE STOOD ON A CONCERT STAGE, AT THE ORPHEUM THEATER IN BOSTON THE LAST SHOW OF THE TOUR, BEFORE HE LEFT US. I WILL NEVER FORGET THE WAY HE CAME BACK TO SHAKE MY OUTSTRETCHED HAND, HOW I FELT AS HE CLUTCHED MY HAND IN HIS AND SMILED AT ME AND THANKED ME FOR COMING TO THE SHOW. THAT BRIEF CONNECTION SPARKED A FLAME THAT WILL BURN IN MY HEART FOREVER. LOVE AND MISS YOU MICHAEL.
Michael! Why??? It's so ... sad .... whithout you ...
I think the song that sums up Michael's life for me is “Not Enough Time” - it is something that we can all resonate with - that is why we should use it preciously. Michael was like Freddie Mercury a real showman, someone with that real x factor, it's so not something you can manufacture. Michael had it in bucketloads and the world is a sadder place without him.
Michael was the most charismatic man I ever saw in my life. His charm was (and is) natural, true and simply enchanting. I had the opportunity to see the band playing in Buenos Aires, on his birthday. I miss him.
Michael.... my inspiration, my friend my guide... we could live for a thousand years... ya eres un inmortal y permaneceras vivo en nuestras memorias y corazones!!! live baby live!!!
Wow 48 compliments posted on his 48th birthday. I see this as an omen of how close to perfect he was as a performer. I was starting to feel a little old myself but now am nothing but proud of my age to know I share the same birth year as Hutch. I was dissapointed in the late 80's as the INXS concert scheduled for Norfolk Naval Base Va. was unfortunatly totally canceled with like a week's notice that year. Sad unexpected problems back home for them I believe. My heart went out to them then. It does also now I have always known how great their tallent but just bought their DVD of LIVE BABY LIVE WOW!!!!! INXS play's and stays at the top for etirnity. Their as good as any sincerely.... need say no more.... So I'll let Michael's own music end the posts on this very special month Romance is gone, he's drifting with the stars
The lyric in his pocket, little girl in his heart
When you hear his songs on the radio I don't need to tell you what you already know
He's in God's top ten where heaven never ends
You saw the world and the world saw you on the stage
Wild, wild, wild, the lonlier boy
Your gypsy heart is free, pictures on the wall of your family
He's on God's top ten where heaven never ends
He's on God's top ten
Baby's got mama's eyes, she was always beautiful
When you hear his voice, feel his arms around you
You remember mama's smile and daddy's little girl
Bad weather, cold meteor storm
He's on God's top ten where heaven never ends
He's on God's top ten
