Michael died three years before I was born, but his music was around me as I grew up. since I have got older, and learned about his life, his work, his talent and who he was, I have thought about him a lot as I reach my twenties and adulthood with a new understanding of the world and this music I grew up with. thinking of you, Michael, I wish I could have lived in a world with you in it.
The 28th anniversary of losing you has affected me more deeply than I expected this year. I don't fully understand why, only that it feels deeply meaningful like something stirred for a reason. Maybe there's something I was meant to reflect on or something God wanted me to notice. I don't pretend to have the answers. What I do know, is YOU mattered and still matter to this day!! Listening to people who knew you and speak about your kindness, warmth, and generosity of spirit, I feel a quiet sadness I never had a chance to meet you in this life. It feels like having missed knowing a truly beautiful human being. You changed the way I understand what it means to be human to be open, loving and deeply connected to others. Your talent was extraordinary, not only in songwriting or performance, but in the way you reached people the way you made them seen and understood that kind of connection doesn't fade with time. You are remembered with so much love and will never be forgotten. You left something beautiful behind and it continues to live on and the hearts of people you never even knew you touched. I miss you more deeply than ever, and there will never be another you.

Michael, I cry everyday when I listen to your songs cause I miss you. & I lost my oldest son, Brian, in April from heart complications. Michael, I arrived in Australia in 1990. I was 18 at the time and listening to your music then but didn't know much about you or your life. Yesterday, I watched Mystify, the Documentary about you on Netflix, and realised that yesterday 28/11/25 was also the anniversary day of your funeral. Interestingly I noticed you were born on a day with the number 22 (22/1/1960), and also departed on the day with a number 22 (22/11/1997). Not sure why this matters but somehow it seems connected. Grateful to learn more about you. Glad I know a bit of your story. Thank you for your beautiful music xx
