I started listening to INXS in the early 80s when I was just a little girl. They grew to be my favorite band, and I listened to them day and night. I got the privilege to see them twice -- once in '88 and once in '97 (in Sept.) -- both times I managed to get to the front row (you can have anything you want in life so long as you have the will to do it... it was my will to be close to INXS during their concerts because that was “my band”). I touched Michael so much at the '97 concert that I felt stupid. I could only touch his famous black boots so much, ya know... I even got to touch Jon (wow, what a treat... he is so gorgeous). And, I'm sure Tim got tired of me throwing my cigarettes at him. I just wanted him to notice me!
God, I loved and still love INXS so much. I loved their music, and their music was such an integral part of my childhood and my most formidable years when I was developing as a person. I sit here now, almost 29 years old, and I look back and see how fast the time has passed. Shabooh Shabah is in my tape player today... I couldn't believe it when Michael left this world. Michael, you were meant for another place, and it was your destiny, as you were so ambitious and driven to put your soul out into this world. Patience... INXS was so great to see live, and was and still is a great band. While all band members are wonderful, Michael was a huge part of INXS, and INXS lost so much when they lost Michael. What a perfect angle Michael brought to the band.... in so many ways he was the heart of INXS, as he was the front man. His sex appeal, his energy, his talents, his passionate and ambitious soul.... Michael is where he needs to be now. The only type of person that could even measure up to replacing Michael would be someone that has as much soul and passion for expression, life, and the world of spirit and people that Michael so embraced.
This band will forever be a part of my soul and passion for life.
Thank you, INXS, for your passion and your spirit in musical expression.
Michael will be forever missed. Keep evolving, INXS.
