I first came across INXS in 1983 after a friend returned from Australia. She saw them playing in a pub and said she would go back to Aus just to see these guys. She took a photo and showed me. Well, that was me smitten. Ironically I was at their first concert in London and also sadly their last. I travelled all over Europe to see them live - clocking up 38 concerts over 14 years. Having lost my own brother in 1986 (another michael) INXS helped me via their music to see the point in living through such a tragedy. When the news broke in 1997 I was absolutely shattered. I know I never met him, and I didn't know on a personal level, but I feel I knew him on a different level through his music. Sometimes even now I find myself having a silent tear at the mention of his name. I listen to his music constantly as I find it comforting. To me he was an angel with a dirty face and I will cherish his memory forever. My thoughts are with the family he left behind.
