My message may be a slightly different one for Michael. I first got to know INXS and Michael while listening to a new song by them,,"The Stairs", which grabbed me immediately by the words and melody. I was recovering at 37 years of age from a painful divorce and lost custody of a beloved child while going through ovarian cancer. I worked in retail management with a taxing schedule of double shifts and injected radiation illness that took almost everything out of me. My other free time was designing evening gowns and had so little energy for that either! My coworkers never knew my suffering the side effects that were so ghastly then and have lingered ever since. Anyway, I never had time to research images of Michael or the group at all. I just knew whomever was singing had a powerful, poignant and sensitive voice and it spoke to me through the lyrics of "The Stairs". I got energy from listening to it. I adored classical music and had been listening to Vivaldi constantly to get me through an illness that the drs told my parents would kill me within three days. So I give credit to Michael for pulling me through that crisis. I played that song too while getting ready for dates with the pilot I would later marry, and am still with today. I have to admit, I felt there was a deeper side to Michael simply from that song. If you listen to the lyrics they are profound. I have always thought he was a huge gift to Australia and indeed, the world. I have listened to his music again during this Covid-19 pandemic, as I was getting very down and have had to stay home due to being in a high risk group. I watched recently the 'Mystify' documentary, and was touched deeply. I had no idea his struggles, and his trying to find peace with Paula and Tiger Lily. My heart ached for him. His debilitating injury took bravery and took the very essence of his joy away in just living to the fullest. I hope that Michael knows I appreciate and am so grateful for his gifts. He helped me cope with recovering my health and finding a happy life again. I did not know anything about him, his group or even his name until that one song. I never knew what he looked like until seeing him performance at Wembley, a year ago. I fell for his essence. I am praying for you Michael, that you are at peace and happy in heaven. I will never forget you and what you did for me.
