Hmmm, where to start? I first saw Michael with INXS as the warm up act to the Go-Go's at a little concert at Six Flags Atlanta way back in 1983 as a thirteen year old girl. Despite having never heard of this band, I was totally enthralled with their sound and particularly with this wild, beautiful man out on front stage. His presence even then was surreal...seeing him in concert again at a little venue in Boston several years later I was still entranced by him and by then a full fledged fan of INXS's music. Michael's solo album is a great piece of work and for weeks it was all I listened to when I first bought it. It takes restraint not to get too sad during “Slide Away”- that is one powerful song. It makes me very sad knowing that he is no longer on this earth and that those of us who were so fascinated by him and his music can rely only on memories of INXS performances, songs, and video clips. It seems from all I have heard that Michael was a complex and very sweet man and my heart goes out to his family and all of his friends. The world is missing him, too.
