I really don't know what to say, even now, almost 4 years after the death of Michael. To be honest, I'm the world's biggest U2 fan and it's through them that I got to know and love INXS at around the time of Elegantly Wasted. (since then I've got the solo album and the best of). I was just getting into the music, into the heart, soul, and spirit of INXS and Michael when I heard one morning in the fall that his body had been found. I was shocked, I was hurt, and I was sad, because I felt the world had been deprived of someone so brilliant and pure, and good. I felt that even then, when I had only just recently started getting into the band and knew little about them. Since then I've learned a lot about Michael through other fans, and through the Irish lads themselves. I myself, am a singer in a band, and although most of my influence (vocal and performance-wise) comes from Bono, there is a definite Hutch presence there as well. I remember a fan telling me once how hurt she was when Michael died. I could relate though really because if something remotely similar happened to the B-Man... I dunno... I'd defintely feel what the fans of INXS have felt. I don't dare to claim that I'm hurt like an INXS fan is hurt, I mean I'm still new to it all. But I know when a good person, a good talent, and a good soul has been lost, and for whatever reason. We'll see him again, I'm sure. Until then, it's the preservation of his memory we must hold dear. Thank you Michael, your voice, and your heart, has touched millions of others, including my own. May you rest peacefully.
