Please note:
Faced with the challenge of inappropriate messages being posted in the past, we have resorted to pre-approving all guestbook entries before they appear in Michael's Guestbook. We also ask you to enter your email address. It won't be displayed on the site but will help us to keep the guestbook organised as well as allowing us to reply to as many as possible with a word of gratitude. Thanks for understanding.

What a cruel world we live in. A world where people are turned in to cartoon figures just for our amusement. A world where a woman who had suffered such a loss as Paula can be ridiculed for her pain.

A world where raw emotion is supposed to be hidden away. I have heard people condemn Paula for not getting on with life...for not “pulling herself together.” Well what did people think she was trying to do”? This woman who admitted that she lived just for her children..life was in her words “a noble gesture.”

Everyone has their judgment of Michael and Paula. To the romantically inclined they were Romeo and Juliet..Paulas harsh critics viewed her as a woman who “snared” Michael. Where is the truth? Somewhere in between. They were like any couple trying to work through the wreckage of divorce. Paula was only trying to do her best by her children...acrimony which turned in to disaster for both she and Michael.

Their portrayal in the British press was damning to say the least. Michael was portrayed as some has been who ran away with Bob Geldofs wife. Paula was condemned for leaving a marriage which had run its course. Funny isn't it how society condemns a woman for leaving a marriage and never questions it when a man jumps ship in search of fulfillment.

Both Paula and Michael were undoubtedly searching for something more. Then Michael died..in one instant she lost her future. Then with the revelations about her father..she lost her past. As she said herself “I was like Bobby Ewing in the shower scene in Dallas. I woke up and my boyfriend wasn't my boyfriend. My father wasn't my father.”

She dealt with so many blows. I hoped she would find the strength to struggle on. She didn't. It is not up to me to judge or condemn. Who knows where any of our lives may end up?

All we can do now is remember the happy times..Michaels soaring voice and effortless charm. Paulas sassy spirited interviewing techniques and her witty writing. May they rest in peace. May Tiger embody the best of both and may those around her pass on the happy memories.
