Dear Michael,
Let me start by writing how much I miss you. How much I wish selfishly you still were here recording more for us to hear. I was just now watching one of your performances, and can't help thinking how perfect it is “Never Tear Us Apart”; everything about it, all that you embodied on the stage, that raw Rock n Roll energy.
I grew up listening to music, and like for most fans of music, there are songs and performers that have become integral to the story of my life. You are at the top of that list. In many forms you are still with us, as my indigenous ancestors would sing, “So long as the flower blooms the word shall never die” you are like that, I think and feel you in my heart. Your voice is like a salve at times, soothing and strong. Thank you for having come into this world. Thank you for having shared and bared your soul and person through the magic of your songs. And most of all thank you for leaving it behind for those of still here to accompany us on this journey we call life.
It's been fourteen years now; fourteen, it feels like it was just yesterday.
Peace, love and a hug,
Martha
