Dear Michael:
I'm sure that you know we're all thinking about you this weekend. Your family,your band, your friends and your fans. Every year I promise myself that I won't dwell on your death. But, what can I say? 11/22/97 is burned into my heart, my mind and my soul. It still hurts as much today as it did twelve years ago. Every year I do a tribute of some sort to you. I play your music, I watch your DVD's, I read all of the books again...trying to make sense of it all. My emotions run the gamut. I go from being stricken with grief to being angry at you. You destroyed yourself, your family, your friends, your band, your fans. But, at the end of it all..I have to accept that things are as they were meant to be. Your light only burned for a short time. But, it burned brighter than all of the others and it burned for us. My wish for you is that you've found peace, you know no pain or regret, that you and your lovely father are keeping each other company and that above all.. you know how deeply loved and missed you still are. I light a candle for you tonight Michael. It's our turn to shine for you. Know that we celebrate and give thanks for you life and your legacy. All my love forever.
