I've been listening a lot to Michael and the band's music these days, especially live performance videos . . . exploring the evolution of his talent over the years before we lost him. There are precious precious few singers and bands that could put together such a complete live performance as INXS and Michael could. The only other band that could ever come close is fronted by Michael's pal, Bono. I recently shared some INXS with my 4 year old son, who really enjoys Michael and INXS's music. I tell him that this was Daddy's favorite singer and group when he was growing up in the late 80's and early 90's. I felt like his music was the soundtrack of my life. In my car, or just hanging out with my friends, INXS and Michael's soulful voice was just a button away. Michael, you touched my life and made me want to be a musician.
Although I was not fortunate enough to know him personally, I feel his loss often, pray that he is at peace, and hope that one day I will get to meet my musical hero at the gates of heaven.
