I have followed and adored INXS since I was about 12, from the Ferris Bros, Inxsive etc. I remember when I moved to Hong Kong in the mid 80's & how annoyed my parents were that I insisted that I had to take my INXS/ Michael mural with me - it being 11 metres long x 1 metre wide ( lots of collecting). How surprised was I to learn that Michael's family were also Ex-Pats from OZ and that he frequently went there. One day, I spotted him in Central (A suburb in HK)and didn't know enough cantanese to make the minibus driver stop,unfortunately I missed him.
I have seen most of INXS's performances over the years. When I was 15 he held my hand during a concert that I had snuck into with fake ID - I wouldn't let anyone touch my hand for a week! I remember the tears in my eyes while funnily / poeticly enough, I was driving over the harbour bridge and first heard that he had passed away on the radio. I couldn't believe it.
Consequently, I caught up with a lot of old friends (all old INXS fanatics) and we reminised about the impact that the music had on our lives while growing up.
Michael's musical legacy is unsurpassed as was his talent and dedication to the industry and I believe to his fans. Ten years on, with several tears in my eyes, I still miss him and his music and think that I always will.
