It seems so strange to be so deeply touched by a person you never knew, and so deeply saddened by their passing - but I guess music is a gift that can touch and reach into your heart and soul from afar.
I never had the pleasure of meeting or knowing Michael personally, but was one of the many,many fans that he reached and touched, through the beauty and intensity of his lyrics, and the lingering, soulful depths of his voice. His music has been a very real part of my life for the last 16 years and has truly brought me much joy and pleasure. He will always therefore be a part of my existance, and I will always be thankful for his life and his gift to the world.
His passing is an immense loss.
I hope that one day little Tiger will be able to understand the enormity of her fathers' too short, but powerful presence in this world, and the happiness he brought to so many.
To quote Ralph Waldo Emerson: “To know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived: that is to have succeeded.”
I guess, what I want for you to know, is that I have “breathed easier”, because of the gift of Michael.
I thank you, and I thank him for his life and his music.
I wish all the Hutchence family, Paula and especially Tiger, much love and peace. xxxxxx
“Music, when soft voices die,
Vibrates in the memory -
Odours when sweet violets sicken,
Live within the sense they quicken.
Rose leaves, when the rose is dead,
Are heaped for the beloved's bed;
And so thy thoughts, when thou art gone,
Love itself shall slumber on.”
- Percy Bysshe Shelley -
