Memories of a great man
I listened with rapt attention
To the songs he sang with gritty soul
I watched with admeration
As his legacy began to unfold
I cried to some songs
Laughed to others
Made love to still more
I grieved and offered sucoor to my children
When I placed them in the earth with Never Tear Us Apart engraved like a prayer to God upon my lips.
I sang it to my father, when he passed away
I sang it to myself as I cried
On that fateful November day
Micheal has touched my life and mind
My heart and soul as well
I hope he's laughing happily
Wherever he may dwell
This is the only tribute my heart can offer, yet I hope all of those who loved him, and love him still are proud of his accomplishments, and looking forward to the day when they can see his smile light up a room again. *but not too soon, I hope*
with all my love and gratitude,
Michelle Wilcox
