Faced with the challenge of inappropriate messages being posted in the past, we have resorted to pre-approving all guestbook entries before they appear in Michael's Guestbook. We also ask you to enter your email address. It won't be displayed on the site but will help us to keep the guestbook organised as well as allowing us to reply to as many as possible with a word of gratitude. Thanks for understanding.
Robyn Melissa, 23.06.2006
Vancouver, BC, Canada
On June 1st I went to see INXS for the first time in my life here in Vancouver. 22 days later, there's still a lot of raw emotion in my heart.

Originally, my sister Erin and I had planned to see INXS back in September 1997. I was then 17 and she was 14. We were both two sisters who had learned to play guitar and we both loved music.

However, due to bad planning on our part, we missed the 1997 INXS show entirely. “That's okay”, we reasoned. “We'll just have to see them the next time they come here.”

Two months later on a November evening, I was listening to the radio play INXS songs. It was after the 2 songs that I heard the news. My heart sunk. I told Erin, and she started to cry and hugged my mom for comfort.

Thought I was truly sad about the loss of such a wonderful, talented, soulful man, it wasn't until after seeing this concert 22 days ago that reality kicked in. Almost 9 years later, and only now am I really feeling emotional grief. Not over the loss of the INXS frontman, but of a beautiful soul and his enchanting voice. I thought about his family, his friends, his bandmates, and his daughter. I thought about his experiences, his thoughts, and what he must have been feeling. I listened to “Searching” and wept to myself. I listened to “Let it Ride”, and the repeating chorus of “caught in between the sun and the moon and the stars” made my heart ache. I had never grieved with so much sincerity for someone I have never met, but it only goes to show how much Michael touched the lives of others.
