I just wanted to say that I have been remembering a lot about INXS and what they meant to me when I was growing up. I didn't realize it until recently, and there is no one that could possibly replace Michael.
I'm a very avid Depeche Mode fan, Michael Hutchence passed right around the time Dave Gahan had overdosed, and I was mortified by the fact that 2 front men from 2 of my all time favorite groups were almost taken from this world. I wish Michael was still around, because he was one of the BEST front men ever in music, and I miss him more and more as I see what's been happening with the band lately. Everyone has to move on, but I wish that Michael, WITH INXS, would have been able to participate in the resurgence of a lot of the 80's bands enjoying their “comebacks” in the last few years like U2, Duran Duran, The Cure, and Depeche Mode...who, in my opionion, are among the top from that era who all still have their original members.
I saw INXS during their “Kick” tour and I was only 18. My sister (who was 15 at the time)and I still count the paper ripping by Michael during “Mediate” as one of the sexiest onstage perfomances we had ever witnessed. To clarify, Michael brought up a piece of paper, I guess as a guide for the words for “Mediate”, then proceeded to rip the paper slowly and deliberately, while still chanting the words to “Mediate”.
Thanks Michael, and rest in peace.
