While watching a recent episode of “Rockstar”, I began to reflect on the effects that INXS had on me! It's hard to think of INXS going on without Michael, but, at the same time - I welcome the idea. I remember seeing INXS in 1988, during the KICK tour at the Marcus Ampitheater in Milwaukee with my sister, Renee. Not only was it meaningful to be there with her, but we had the same feeling my Dad probably had the first time he saw The Beatles! I had a crush on Jon, and she had a crush on Michael. After the show, we bought T-Shirts, and a Program filled with pictures that we shared! (And actually fought over…) We made sure to watch every MTV Award show, and buy all the records, etc. We would get SO excited when a video would premiere on MTV. Needless to say - we were (and still are) HUGE fans! I won't forget the day we heard the news about Michael's death. I was working at an Advertising Agency, and she called me from college. We couldn't believe it. She had such dissapointment in her voice. Her favorite idol was tragically, and suddenly gone. She said, “That's it… it's never going to happen… I will never get to meet my Idol… I guess I somehow thought there was the possibility, but, it is now definate that I won't… EVER…” For anyone who knows my sister - she lives for music - singing, writing, listening - ALL OF IT! She could relate to the lyrics Michael would sing, and truly loved the arrangements, etc. She could appreciate Michael's talent - oh yeah - and the fact that he was gorgeous was a bonus! Michael Hutchence is missed. I sometimes wonder what he would be like today and I'm comforted by the fact that there wasn't an album I didn't like… THAT music will always be remembered… Some artists fizzle over time, but, he left us before there might have been a chance. (I don't think that would've happened…) I believe he would have carried on with the talented likes of BONO & U2…) HE will always live on, and HE will always be young… (When I want to feel young - I play the KICK album). Good Luck to the rest of the band… It's your time.
