18.11.1999 – MEDIA RELEASE

Re: Michael Kelland Hutchence and the Second Anniversary of his death on 22nd November 1999

The family wish to advise that there will be no memorial service at the Northern Suburbs Memorial Gardens this year but friends and fans are invited to visit the memorial gardens where a new bronze bust of Michael has been located.

For those wanting to send flowers, please send them to Michael Hutchence c/o Memorial Gardens, Delhi Rd., North Ryde NSW.

On Sunday 21st November the family will be attending the normal Sunday evening service at 6:30pm, at St. Andrew’s Cathedral, Sydney, the church where Michael’s funeral service was held. Friends and fans are invited to attend. The family will also be attending Michael’s memorial site on Monday 22nd November.

It may be of interest to learn that the memorial website at http://www.michaelhutchence.org has had 27,000 visitors since the site was launched on 11th October 1999 and statistics show that those visitors have collectively made over one million hits to the website, spending an average of 13:30 minutes viewing the site. Some seven hundred letters of tribute have been written into the onsite guest book. The website has also received two international web awards for its high standard of presentation and content.

25.10.1999 – Thank you!

The Hutchence family wish to sincerely thank the many thousands who have visited this site in its inaugural week. It is so overwhelming to see the love and support Michael has received from all over the world. The hundreds of messages left in the Guestbook along with the precious stories of people who met Michael on tour have touched us in a profound way. We invite you to return in the future as we continue to develop Michael’s Memorial Site.

11.10.1999 – Official opening of our website

It is with great pleasure and excitement we announce the official opening of our website effective from 11.10 pm on 11th October 1999 to coincide with the landmark release of Michael’s Solo Album in Australia.

This new site is a unique virtual memorial site initiated by Michael’s father Kelland, designed and implemented by Jacqui and Mario Ferrari in Switzerland and Dennis Patterson in Sydney with contributions from Kelland, family, friends and fans.

We are grateful to INXS/Universal and V2 Records for giving us permission to use thirty seconds on each of a selection of tracks from INXS albums and from Michael’s new V2 solo album. This new site is Michael’s sacred site, dedicated to his memory and celebrating his life. It is a central location for all who love him and miss him to come together and pay homage to a gentle lovable spirit.

It is not a record company site, nor an INXS site nor a fan’s web page.

Previously unpublished pictures of Michael plus stories about Michael from family and close friends can be found within the site.

We welcome you to visit our beloved Michael’s Memorial.
